The function of Human Resources within the College is to provide services related to benefits, policy administration, employee relations, compensation and recruiting needs.  Our customers are primarily Kirkwood employees.  We also serve the community through employment recruitment and application.

MAJOR INITIATIVES

 

Conversion to Datatel’s Colleague software has meant a significant change in the way we work and the data bases we use.  This new software will allow us to become more ‘paperless’, to more efficiently manage communication between HR and job applicants, and create various and specialized reports for decision-making.

 

Perform extensive background checks on all recommended applicants for jobs.

 

Require pre-employment drug testing.

 

Development of a succession planning program.

 

Payroll has been added to our area of responsibility.

 

Expansion of our mentor program.
