Getting Started : STEPS TO SUCCESS

International students and online degrees students have different steps to starting college. Click here if you're an international student, here for online degrees students.

1. Apply Now
It’s free and fast. Select one program or area of emphasis, and you’ll receive a welcome letter in the mail with information about completing the admission process. You will get your temporary EagleCard with your Kirkwood "k" number.

Some programs have additional requirements. You will receive information from the program that will detail the steps to be accepted. Make sure you check your e-mail and postal mail! If you have questions, call 319-398-1265 or send us an email.

2. Email
Create your email password and access your Kirkwood email account. It's free, and your correspondence with us will come in the form of email. Your password will also be your login for EagleNet, Kirkwood’s online program to help students manage their academic careers.
3. TGIF Campus Visit
We know you're curious. If you're a high school junior or senior, come to a TGIF campus visit  and see all the great things Kirkwood has to offer. You can tour campus, ask questions and see near-campus housing options.
4. Placement Exams
Take our required placement exams
or submit your ACT scores to the One Stop office. Math scores are valid for two years; reading and writing scores remain valid for three years.
5. Program Conference
Attend a program conference, if your program requires it. Click here to find out about program conferences.
6. Financial Aid & Scholarships
Apply for financial aid and scholarships. Every year, we award more than $2.6 million in scholarships, and more than 60 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid.

Sign Up for Classes at Orientation
All new students are required to attend an orientation session. During orientation, you meet with an advisor and enroll in your first semester classes. You're invited to orientation after you complete your application for admission and before the start of your first semester.
