1. Apply — it’s free and fast. Select one major or program area, and you’ll receive more information about completing the admission process. Apply now!

After you apply, you will receive a welcome letter in the mail with your temporary EagleCard attached. On the front of the card is your name and Kirkwood "k" number.   Learn more about your k number.

Some programs have additional requirements. You will receive information from the program that will detail the steps to be accepted. Make sure you check your e-mail and postal mail!

2. Visit campus.  We know you're curious. If you're a high school junior or senior, come to a TGIF campus visit  and see all the great things Kirkwood has to offer. You can tour campus, ask questions and see near-campus housing options.

3. Take our required placement exams or submit your ACT scores to the admissions office. Math scores are valid for two years; reading and writing scores remain valid for three years.

4. Attend a program conference, if your program requires it.  What is a program conference?

5. Establish your EagleNet password. EagleNet is an online program Kirkwood students use to manage their academic careers at Kirkwood. Go to EagleNet, click on "EagleNet for Students," then click "Establish My Password."

6. Apply for financial aid and scholarships.  Every year, we award more than $1.7 million in scholarships, and more than 60 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid.

7. Sign up for classes. Most new students register at their registration orientation day.

8. Sign up for your Kirkwood e-mail account. It's free, and much of your correspondence with us will come in the form of e-mail.

9. Get your permanent EagleCard. Trade in your temporary card for your permanent Kirkwood ID EagleCard after you register for class.

10. Buy your books in person at the Kirkwood Bookstore or online at www.kirkwoodbookstore.com. Books are available 10 days prior to the start of each semester.
