More Driving Programs

This program is state mandated for any persons under the age of 18 who wish to drive a personal vehicle. It is 30 hours of classroom work and six hours of driving.

Besides the six hours of driving given by drivers education, the state of Iowa mandates that the students have a minimum of 14 hours with parent or guardian, two hours of which must be night time driving after sundown.

Students must be at least 14 years of age and have a valid Iowa Learners Permit. View courses.

Tuition: $400

Kirkwood Community College offers a quality moped class. Courses will impart knowledge and skills to allow a person to ride a moped more safely and greatly increase their enjoyment of riding.

Requirements: 

  • Students must be at least 14 years of age, but under the age of 16 to obtain a moped license. Participants may be 13 years old to take class.
  • The course will consist of six hours of classroom instruction.

Class size is limited to 30 students in Cedar Rapids. Williamsburg, Washington, Vinton, Tipton, and Monticello Kirkwood Centers all offer moped courses as well. Please contact those locations for information about their times and class sizes.
