Welcome to Math/Science. Literacy in mathematics and science is not a luxury these days – it’s a necessity! This literacy not only helps people meet their academic and career needs, but also meet their personal needs. Understanding and applying the concepts learned in math and science is critical for all citizens. All you have to do today is pick up a newspaper or listen to a news broadcast and you’ll be sure to hear many intriguing accounts about genetic engineering, cloning, economic development, space exploration, and many other topics. In order to fully understand and make responsible decisions about these rapidly changing fields you’ll need to be mathematically and scientifically literate.
The courses that the Kirkwood Mathematics and Science department offers will help you:
1. Develop your skills of observation, data collection, experimentation, and communication; and
2. Apply these skills to solve specific problems related to science, economics, business, and many other disciplines.
You can learn more about mathematics and science as you complete your Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at Kirkwood or as you prepare to transfer to a four-year college or university.
