The Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium provides training to support electronic health records implementation across the Midwest through campus-based training, distance learning, and connections with employer partners.

Kirkwood Community College is a member of the Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium, providing training in six workforce roles to support electronic health records implementation across 10 Midwest states through campus-based training, distance learning and connections with employer partners. The consortium will recruit and train a minimum of 2,700 health career and information technology professionals and students annually, to assist them in becoming health information technology (HIT) professionals.

The Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium is addressing a pressing need in the job market and health care marketplace – the training of thousands of people to work in the growing field of health information technology (HIT) – with a particular focus on scholarships for incumbent or dislocated workers with backgrounds in health care or information technology.

The Midwest Community College Health Information Technology Consortium’s training program provides a systematic, efficient, community-based means to help individuals become health information technology (HIT) professionals.
