One-Source Training

All the ceu training sessions listed in this flyer will be offered free to PWS Operators of systems serving populations of 3,300 or less.

  • All classes 9 am - 3 pm
  • All classes are five hours
  • Operators will receive 0.5 ceus
  • Lunch is on your own
  • Listed with each class is the type of CEUs available from the DNR
  • Pre-resitartion is required as class size is limited

For larger PWS operators, tuition for these classes is $50 per session.

Small System Laboratory Analysis (0.5 CEUS) WT or WD
This course will inform the participant of the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act as it applies to systems that supply potable water to populations less than 3,300. Water sampling and analysis for basic treatment parameters along with colorimetric and titrimetric measurement methods are emphasized. Hands-on analysis of water samples will be performed allowing the participatns the opportunity to practice accepted procedures.

Reading Specifications and Drawings (formerly Specs and Potential Utility Conflicts) 0.5 WD
This course will train utility personnel how to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings which
have been prepared by project consulting engineers. The intent is to enable utility workers to better understand and participate in project planning and construction acitivites in an efficient and timely manner. Instruction will include the organization, format and language of various styles of public works construction specifications. Several "standard" formats and some consultant styles will be discussed. Actual project manuals, engineering Identification of buried utility conflicts will be emphasized. Copies of Recommended Standards of Water Treatment (10 State Standards) manuals, calculators and an engineering scale will be given to participants.

Cancellation Policy: Be sure to pre-register for classes. Kirkwood Community College requires cancellation of off
campus courses for fewer than 5 persons and in the event of dangerous driving conditions relating to inclement weather (if you are pre- registered) is cancelled, you will be notified by phone no more than 5 days in advance. At that time you will receive information on alternate courses still available.
