Kirkwood's Environmental Training Center provides custom training and/or training materials development. This service is provided on a contract basis to governmental agencies, engineering firms, local industries and municipalities. Recent examples of this program include operator training for Iowa Conservation Commission park rangers; start-up courses for several new wastewater treatment facilities; and a Train-the-Trainer program for wastewater operator trainers from Mexico. Each course or training device is developed by staff to fill the specific needs of the contractor. Through this program contractors not only take advantage of the training center expertise, but also receive the benefits of Kirkwood Community College's total resources. These include Kirkwood's state-of-the-art media department, outstanding curriculum developers, economic development center and experts in over 57 vocational technical fields.
