Your EagleCard

If you're a new student taking your classes at a Kirkwood location, get your EagleCard by presenting a government-issued photo ID (drivers license, passport, etc.) at one of the following locations:

If you're a county/regional center student, you can have your photo taken at the center. Your new EagleCard will be available at the center within 10 days.

Current Students, Faculty, and Staff

Current students, faculty, and staff can receive a new card at the EagleCard office. You may be required to have a new photo taken. Your new card is free if you bring your old card with you. Replacement cards are $10. Previous cards are still valid.

You need your EagleCard to:

  • Buy books at the Kirkwood bookstores  
  • Sell books at buy-back time
  • Register for class (if an advisor is helping you)
  • Check out books at the Kirkwood library
  • Request a bill, transcript, copy of your class schedule,
    or change of name or address (in person)
  • Get into the Kirkwood Rec Center, computer labs, and athletic or entertainment events

Additionally, you're required to have your card with you while on any Kirkwood campus, and may be asked to show your EagleCard at any time.

Kirkwood students can ride the Cedar Rapids Transit Bus for free. Just show your active EagleCard for access to all bus routes. 

Use your EagleCard like a debit card. Deposit funds into your EagleCard account, then use the card around campus. Funds can be deposited onto an EagleCard as "EagleCash." EagleCash can be used at the Kirkwood bookstores, EagleTech and Café locations.

EagleCard Deposit Centers

Currency and credit/debit deposits can be loaded onto your EagleCard at any of our EagleCard Deposit Centers:

  • EagleCard office (131 Nielsen Hall)
  • Online: Click here to deposit money online

Funds can be added to the EagleCard in the form of cash or credit/debit card in an amount of $1 or more at any time at any EagleCard Deposit Center. EagleCard Deposit Centers accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Cash, credit/debit card, and personal check deposits will be accepted during normal business hours at the EagleCard office.

By Mail

You can mail a personal check for deposit into an EagleCard debit account.

  • Include the EagleCard cardholder's full name and EagleCard number (k-number).
  • Write “EagleCard debit account deposit” in the check’s memo section.
  • Please include a valid phone number in case the EagleCard office has any questions for you.
  • Mail to: Kirkwood Community College, EagleCard Office - 131 Nielsen Hall, 6301 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406-2068.

If you choose to deposit funds onto your EagleCard, you can use those funds on campus. Funds are accepted at Café locations on the Cedar Rapids main campus, Kirkwood bookstores, and EagleTech. Plus, you can even use it to pay tuition and parking tickets.

Locations that Offer EagleCard Discounts

Current students may receive discounts on selected items from local businesses by presenting their student EagleCard ID at the time of purchase. Some requirements may apply. Visit the EagleCard office (inside the Allsop Computer Lab, 131 Nielsen Hall) for detailed information on specific discounted items and a full list of participating businesses.

EagleCard FAQs

The EagleCard is your official Kirkwood Community College identification card. It provides easy access to the Library, the Michael J Gould Recreation Center, computer labs, Kirkwood sporting and entertainment events, and more.

Simply deposit money onto the EagleCard and use it for cash-free purchases at many places around campus.

Deposit currency onto the card at any EagleCard Deposit Center or online. Deposit center locations:

  • Second floor, Kirkwood Hall (Cashier)
  • The EagleCard office (131 Nielsen Hall)

Deposit Centers accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Cash, credit card, and personal check deposits are accepted at the EagleCard office.

You can receive your EagleCard as soon as you are enrolled in a current or future credit class at Kirkwood. Employees of the college can receive their EagleCard as soon as they receive their first paycheck from the college.

An EagleCard account will automatically become inactive when you are no longer registered for classes, or on the last day of your employment. However, your EagleCard is automatically reactivated if you ever re-register for classes, so keep your card if you plan to re-enroll in the future. Replacement cards cost $10.

No. Your EagleCard is good as long as you are an active student.

If your card has been lost or stolen, cancel card access to services immediately by contacting the EagleCard office at 319-398-5680. The EagleCard office can freeze your current card from use and produce a new card for you at the current replacement fee of $10.

The replacement card will be immediately active for all services. You should protect your EagleCard like a debit card or cash. Kirkwood, and all related entities, are not responsible for charges during a time in which a card was lost or stolen.

There is no charge for the first EagleCard issued. There are no transaction fees or deposit fees. Fees that do apply include:

  • $25 returned check fee
  • $10 account refund fee
  • $10 card replacement fee for lost, stolen, or damaged cards.

There is no charge for a legal name change using the current EagleCard photo. There is a $10 fee to retake a photo.

No, financial aid cannot be transferred to your EagleCard. It can only be used at the Kirkwood Bookstore before it is issued by check or direct deposit. 

If you have financial aid that you were planning to use at the Kirkwood Bookstore and you want to know what the amount is, log in to MyHub. Click “Account Summary,” then scroll to the bottom of the screen to "Financial Aid Bookstore Funds." This will show how much you have (if any) left over to buy books.
