KALDENBERG NAMED INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR

At last night’s board meeting, Tom Kaldenberg was recognized as the League for Innovation Innovator of the Year for his work with energy savings. In the last five years Kirkwood has increased its square footage by 35 percent, while energy expenses only rose 7 percent. Here are a few things Tom and his Facilities team have been able to accomplish in recent years, allowing the college such great energy savings:

·         Energy policy
·         Wind turbine
·         Occupancy sensors
·         Efficiency lighting
·         Repurposing waste
·         Geothermal
·         Catching rain water for use
